Jüdisches Zentrum · München

On November 9, 2003, the foundation stone for the new Jewish community center in Munich was laid. Three years later, on November 9, 2006, the new main synagogue “Ohel Jakob” was ceremoniously opened.

68 years after the destruction of Munich's former main synagogue, which, together with the towers of the Frauenkirche, shaped the architectural image of the city center for decades, the city's Jewish community once again received a home in the middle of the city - a spiritual center, a religious center. The community returned to the heart of the Bavarian capital - as a natural and self-confident part of the city's society.

The Jewish community sees this center as a place of encounter and togetherness, a forum for all citizens and guests of the city. The new Jewish community center on St.-Jakobs-Platz is an open meeting place for young and old, for Munich residents and tourists, and for representatives of all religious communities.
