O2 TUNNEL· Copenhagen, Denmark
The O2 Tunnel is part of Copenhagen’s urban infrastructure and forms a connection within the city’s road network. Designed as an underground traffic link, the tunnel improves mobility while reducing surface traffic in surrounding neighbourhoods.
Infrastructure projects such as tunnels play an important role in the planning of contemporary cities by directing heavy traffic below ground and freeing urban space for pedestrians, cyclists and public life. Large-scale tunnel projects in Copenhagen are part of a broader strategy to improve mobility and reduce congestion in the capital.
The project demonstrates how engineering infrastructure and urban planning intersect, creating more efficient transportation systems while supporting the transformation of Copenhagen’s urban environment.
