Utzon Center · Aalborg, Denmark
The Utzon Center is a cultural and architectural centre located on the Limfjord waterfront in Aalborg. It was the final building designed by Danish architect Jørn Utzon, best known for the Sydney Opera House, in collaboration with his son Kim Utzon.
Completed in 2008, the building functions as a meeting place for architecture, design and cultural activities, including exhibitions, lectures and workshops connected to Aalborg University.
The complex consists of several buildings arranged around sheltered courtyards, with distinctive sculptural roof forms inspired by sails and maritime structures referencing Aalborg’s harbour environment and Utzon’s lifelong fascination with boats and shipbuilding.
